HIGH EXPECTATIONS

When you awaken each morning do you have high expectations for your daily Christian life?  Do you start the day expecting your Christian life to win the battles that most certainly will come?

When we read the words of Jesus in the four Gospels it is clear that Jesus had very high expectations for the quality of the Christian life His disciples would live each day.  Consider John 7: 37- 38 as one such statement of Jesus’ high expectations for His disciples.

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.  He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

How in the world could Jesus have such high expections for our Christian life knowing us as we really are?   It is because His high expectaions were based upon something He knew about Himself.  He knew He would be our Christian life!

Jesus never had confidence in His disciples.  He had confidence in what He would be in them 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

If you awaken every morning thinking your Christian life is what you inspire and sustain you will soon be lowering your expectations. No one can successfully sustain their own Christian life.  Jesus said  “without Me you can do nothing.” John15:5

When you learn to abide in Christ moment by moment your expectations will soon be the same high expectations that Jesus has.  You will begin to face the challenges of each day knowing your Christian life will win the day.

Awaken each morning saying “Jesus, thank you for abiding in me!  You are my Christian life.”    Your expectations will soon be syncronized with His and they are very high expections indeed.
