Action not Reaction

Reading the story of Jesus’ temptation in Matthew 4 makes it clear that Satan’s strategy to destroy Jesus was to turn Jesus into a reaction to His own pain instead of being God’s love in action. Jesus was sent to be God’s love made visible and available in the world. He was not sent to react and neither are His discples.

Jesus’ oneness with the Father was at risk if Jesus had turned into a reaction instead of the action of God’s love. Our salvation was at risk during Jesus’ temptation. Glory be to God he did not turn into a reaction!

When we are tempted by Satan and His system of reactions against love in action, we must be delivered by God’s action.  This is why Jesus taught us to pray these words..

“Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil for thine is the Kingdom, power and glory forever.” Matthew 6:13

By the action of God in us as love, We,as disciples, are inspired to carry our personal cross one day at a time. Cross bearing is action not reaction. Cross bearing is carrying love birthed in God that needs to be delivered to the right person, at the right moment, in the right measure, by the right person.

“And  whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.” Luke 14:27

When we become a reaction we put our cross down and the delivery of love is on hold and unavailable.
