“Jesus diagnoses our inner divisions as our greatest challenge.” E. Stanley Jones
Anyone who has taken an all night international flight in economy class knows what discomfort is. Anyone who has spent over a week in an intensive care unit knows what discomfort is. Anyone who has suffered with severe back issues for a long period of time knows what discomfort is.
What a relief it is to finally land after the long flight. What a relief it is to be released from intensive care and hospitalization. What a relief it is for back pain to finally disappear.
In His teaching Jesus points to the inner divisions in our inner life as our greatest discomfort. He goes on to say that He can cure from inner discomfort.
To be trapped inside a cramped inner life that never comes in for a landing, to be so sick in our inner life we feel we may not survive and to have so much pain we cannot properly use our mind, emotions and will is the worst of human discomfort.
This is why Jesus calls us to Himself. He calls us to grow, to live and think, feel and will with Him. As we abide with Jesus, we finally land in peace, get released from intensive care where the fear of death reigns and we begin to feel the wonderful joy of our mind, emotions and will aligning for love.
Do you want to be free of the discomfort of inner divisions? Then hear Jesus calling you and begin to abide with Him 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and moment by moment.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29
