Ask, Seek, Knock
Every commandment of Jesus liberates us to live a life of cooperation with God. We will never regret obeying and living the commands of Jesus. What He expects of us is best for us.
One of Jesus’ most beautiful commandments is a simple and profound three step plan for reaching the goals God wants to set for our lives.
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” – Matthew 7:7-8
Ask – Start talking to God. Admit that you do not know. Believe that God is generous with wisdom and direction to those who humbly want to go where He is going.
Seek – Add action to faith. “Faith without works is dead being alone.” When we ask it is an admission of our need. When we seek it is a confirmation of our confidence in God. Seeking the future with what God has given us takes us to our goal.
Knock – Go public with your plan. No one knocks on a door unless they are ready to face what is on the other side of the door. True faith is not embarrassed to face the future even before it is seen.
If you want to live a life of true and deep emotion and accomplishment, do exactly what Jesus says. Ask, seek and knock.
Your life will never be boring and in the end you will say: “It was not me! Christ in me did it all and invited me along for the ride.”
