A Matter of Inflection and Perception
“Do you love where you live?”
One way of hearing this question calls for your evaluation of how pleasant it is to live where you live. Another way of hearing this question calls for your evaluation of how much love you deliver where you live. The answer depends on how one hears and perceives the question.
In discipleship the goal is the perfecting of love. When our love is being perfected the entire world becomes a place where we can say “I can love living here or there!” To a disciple any place on earth becomes a great place to love. A mature disciple can love living anywhere.
Discipleship is not developing a refined and limited taste for living well in a few places on earth. It is developing an open and willing taste for living and loving anywhere.
True discipleship allows us to see ourselves living and loving well with Jesus anywhere. When we get a vision for living and loving well anywhere we are seeing what Jesus sees. We can even come to hear Him say “Don’t be afraid to go there with Me! We will love living there!”
